Who we are:

IGSOSA – North America, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization registered in the United States of America, and exclusively administered and operated under the tax exempt status of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of the organization is to “provide resources and support for the promotion of excellence in learning, the value of self-worth, and quality of educational performance among students and staff of Ilesa Grammar School; and to facilitate the transition of students to alumni who will engage in productive and responsible participation with integrity in society.”

Mission:

The Association shall be committed to the provision of resources and support for the promotion of excellence in learning, the value of self-worth, and quality of educational performance among students and staff of Ilesa Grammar School; and to facilitate the transition of students to alumni who will engage in productive and responsible participation with integrity in society.

Vision:

The Association shall be dedicated to the creation of strong alliance and networking among its members and members of all Ilesa Grammar School Old Students or Alumni Associations worldwide; and to the provision of support that will enhance educational, professional, social, and leadership opportunities.

Ayoola and Fashakin visited the alma mater in May 2007

The IGSOSA -NA president (Alumnus Banji Ayoola) and the Secretary for Legal affairs ( Alumna Janet Fashakin) visited the Ilegrams campus on separate occasions in May 2007 and brought back first - hand assesment of the needs the school faces. In the reports to be presented to the NEC, the "visitors" informed us that the visits were "eye - openers" with regard to the urgency of any help to be given. See the photo gallery

 

Have you received  a copy of the IGSOSA-NA Newsletter?

About a month ago, the NEC commissioned a newsletter to be published to augment the website in conveying relevant information and news to our members and friends The maiden issue of the IGSOSA-NA periodical newsletter has  now been approved for circulation. The editors are Alumni Titus Olowokere and Steve Ajibola. In a presentation made to the NEC and the General Assembly during a teleconference, the editors  promised that the high quality and very exciting contents contained in the maiden issue will be maintained in future issues. In the  approval given,  the NEC and the General assembly believe that this will complement the IGSOSA - NA website and the efforts being made to reach the general membership as well as publicise our programs and support for the school.

Ilesa is a city located in west of Nigeria; it is also the name of a historic state (also known as Ijesa) centered around that city. The state was ruled by a monarch bearing the title of Owa Obokun. The state of Ilesa consisted of Ilesa itself and a number of smaller surrounding cities.

The Ijesa, a term also denoting the people of the state of Ilesa, are part of the present Osun State of Nigeria. Some of the popular towns of the Ijesa are Oshu, Ibokun, Erin Ijesa, Ipetu Jesa, Ijebu Jesa, Esa Oke, Ipole, Ifewara, Iwara, Erinmo, Iwaraja, Idominasi, Ilase, Igangan, Imo, Ibodi and many others.

Ilesa is home to the famous and prestigious Ilesa Grammar School, a school founded by Egbe Atunluse Ilesa and alma mater to many Nigerians (read more)
